Ford Set to Murderstomp NAIAS: GT, Raptor, GT350R

By now you have seen, or at least heard of, the absolutely insane 2017 Ford GT.  Ford did a phenomenal job of keeping this car under wraps up until now, but it has become the talk of the interwebs over the past few days.  Just like the predecessor, the new GT is one beautiful beast.

The most surprising element is not the crazy looks or spartan interior, but Ford’s choice to use a 3.5-liter twin-turbo Ecoboost V6 instead of a forced induction V8.  Other impressive elements include carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon fiber body panels, monocoque, a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and even carbon fiber wheels.

If that wasn’t enough, Ford is introducing a racing variant of the already intense Mustang GT350, called the GT350R.  This model will also include carbon fiber wheels, a highly tuned version of the 5.2L flat plane crank V8 found in the GT350, improved aerodynamics, and a number of other performance improvements.

Other vehicles being debuted include the all-new 2015 F-150 SVT Raptor as well as a new Focus ST.  While there are many exciting vehicles launching at the Detroit-based North American International Auto Show, Ford is definitely the center of everyone’s attention at the moment.
